Andy J. Martinez is the lead vocalist for Peoria’s indie-rock band First Date Kiss (FDK), where she brings both lyrical depth and a vibrant stage presence to the Central Illinois music scene.

Martinez co-founded FDK in 2021 alongside drummer Asher Feeman, following their meeting at an open mic night. Her musical voice reflects a range of influences—classic rock, Latin rhythms, poetic songwriters—and she uses that blend to shape FDK’s sound into something fresh yet grounded.

When FDK released their debut single “Aren’t I Yours” in December 2022, Martinez’s vocal urgency and lyrical honesty stood out, marking a clear statement of the band’s identity and direction. Live, she’s known for high energy and strong connection with the crowd, qualities that continue to earn the band new followers with each show.

In her ongoing work with First Date Kiss, Andy J. Martinez drives the band’s forward momentum, balancing songwriting, performance, and creative vision as they expand regionally and build toward an EP release.
