Last weekend I caught more than 10 sets from local and regional musicians over the course of just three days! There’s no way we can fit all of them into one post. We’ll be sharing more from those shows over the next couple of weeks, but this time around we’re focusing on two nights where the venues really felt like home: Adara Rae at the Grand ReOpening of Twisted Spoke Saloon and Horseshoes and Hand Grenades kicking off the concert series at Friendly Valley Tavern.
If you’ve missed live music at the Twisted Spoke, I have good news... it's back! Walking back in felt like we had never left. There have definitely been upgrades and changes, but somehow it still had that familiar energy of a regular Saturday night at the Spoke. Adara Rae was the perfect act to help reopen the stage.
We also saw Horseshoes and Hand Grenades launch the Jammin' on the Lawn concert series at Friendly Valley, and it was a lot of fun. So much fun that some people who often leave during the set break (you know who you are) stuck around for the second set! I love the way the guys in H&HG jockey around the shared mic and feed off each other’s energy. It adds something to the performance that just feels genuine and fun to watch.
One of the best parts of both nights was seeing how much the musicians themselves were enjoying it. At some point during each show, every person on stage had a huge smile on their face, and that kind of joy is contagious.
This weekend’s list includes more than 50 performances happening around the area, so while you’re checking out the photos and videos from last weekend, make sure you’re also building your own live music to-do list for Mother’s Day weekend. I hope to see you out there!
