The business of music is something has constantly changed over time. Often it’s technology that brings change. This time it was a pandemic that forced us to use the technology we already had in new and different ways. If we’ve learned anything from past metamorphoses of the music industry, it’s that some things will always stay the same, but the new things never disappear.

What is really important to me right now is that musicians understand that not only is livestreaming not going away, but it is and will continue to be a viable piece of the business plan for artists who want to make a living as a musician.

Matt Eckberg, Emilele, and Brian Neumann were the first three to take PML up on the offer to go live on our Facebook page! We’re continuing to schedule artists who are interested in live streaming with Peoria Music Live.

Some artists are still entertaining fans through livestreaming and some are waiting things out. I have said not livestreaming means fans are being left on the couch and money is being left in pockets now, but also a future revenue stream is likely being cut off for those artists. The sooner artists & bands become comfortable with live streaming, the better. Here I talk about why I say this and also give some tips for making livestreams profitable.

Over my time at Bradley, I’ve seen artist Harland Reid become something of a cult figure in the music scene. Through his music, his art, and his remarkable personality, Harland has become one of the most recognizable figures in the Bradley music world. This local notoriety struck me as making him the perfect subject for my first installment of this series.

But our experience was so perfect, I couldn’t not share it with those of you who didn’t make it to celebrate with us! And I had to take a moment and say THANK YOU to all the musicians who were a part of the night!
