Here we are at the start of a new year, and I can’t help but feel hopeful that this one is going to be our best yet.
Not because everything is suddenly easy.
Not because the work is finished.
But because of you.
You’re a big part of the reason I’m still here, still standing, and still committed to Peoria Music Live and Harmonize Peoria.
Last May, I shared a very honest post about how much it was costing me to keep both organizations running and how overwhelmed I felt by growing debt and unexpected expenses. I set a $40,000 goal, shared ways people could help, and promised regular updates.
We were just over halfway to that goal when I last posted an update at the end of August.
Then life hit hard.
These are two events that I cared very much about being a part of, but haven’t yet shared most of the footage or photos because I was barely hanging on by early September.
I hope to be able to share it all very soon.
The final months of 2025 were some of the most difficult I’ve ever experienced. I won’t go into details here, but I was in survival mode. I focused on getting through each day and protecting what mattered most.
Over the last several weeks, I’ve finally had space to breathe, reflect, and reconnect with why this work exists and how to move forward.
I’m incredibly grateful to share this: Thanks to a combination of many people subscribing on Facebook, joining the Green Room, watching and sharing our content, paying for services, and a few very generous donations to both organizations, we did exceed our $40,000 goal!
I also want you to know your support mattered both financially AND emotionally. During the times when I wasn’t posting as much or as visible as usual, your continued support reminded me that this work matters to others, too.
Why This Still Matters
I’m excited to keep doing more to support local fans, musicians, business owners, and Peoria as a whole. Peoria is an amazing place, and it has felt on the verge of becoming a true arts and music destination for a long time. I genuinely believe we’re closer than many people realize.
Harmonize Peoria grew steadily and was part of so many great events in 2025… we’re looking forward to bringing so much more inspiration in the coming year!
Recently, while being named ArtsPartner of the Year, Mary Jo Papich said something that stuck with me: “Don’t get into the arts unless you can’t stay out of them.”
That’s exactly where I am.
The impact of music and the arts on individual lives, on our community, and on the city and surrounding area I love is too important to walk away from. I still believe deeply in what we’re building - music programs that kids, teens, and young adults can access regardless of income; a city that nurtures and celebrates its artists; a vibrant economy; and a creative ecosystem that attracts visitors and talent while remaining livable for the people who call Peoria home.
Moving Forward Together
Peoria Music Live and Harmonize Peoria are moving forward this year with clearer focus, stronger footing, and renewed energy.
That said, it’s also important to be realistic. Continued support is still essential for both organizations to thrive in 2026. There are so many ways to support them both, but I’m not asking for funding today. Instead, I’m highlighting the support below that will cost you nothing except a few seconds or minutes of your time.
